What is Orbs?
Orbs is an open public blockchain infrastructure for mass-market applications, providing a good balance of performance, cost, security, and ease of use for developers. Orbs is a decentralized system that uses Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus to be executed by a public network of permissionless validators.
The Orbs Network is designed to allow enterprises to use blockchain-based trust as a competitive strategy while also providing predictable, cheap fees and great scalability to fulfill the needs of large-scale consumer applications. ORBS is the primary token on the Orbs blockchain that powers everything from smart contracts to transaction fees to consensus-based storage.
The Orbs Network and its native coin ORBS were launched and made public at the end of March 2019. The network's first reward distribution took place in only four months, with 18 million ORBS handed to 1,448 participating addresses, and the first DApp was launched in October of the same year. Orbs is already one of the most well-known blockchain projects, thanks to its high scalability, security, and low fees.
To accelerate business adoption of blockchain, DeFi, and the development of DApps, the company has teamed with industry giants from both traditional and decentralized technology sectors, including IBM and Kakao, as well as Binance, Consensys, and Celsius, respectively.
How do the Orbs staking exactly work?
Delegators are ORBS token holders who give Guardians their voting weight (stake), allowing them to preserve the ecosystem's security and long-term goals. Meanwhile, in the Orbs PoS paradigm, Guardians are anticipated to be major players inside the Orbs Universe, enforcing network security, aligning with the long-term Orbs goal, and actively working to make that vision a reality. The Guardians' primary responsibility is to assess Validators, monitor their operations, and approve Validators that follow the protocol appropriately, ensuring proper network operation and security.
On Orbs Network, there is no minimum amount required for staking; you can stake as much as you like. Because ORBS is an ERC20 token, you'll need to have ETH on hand to pay the transaction fee (stake or unstake).
