Paytm Casinos

Paytm was for years the app Indians reached for first, and plenty of international casinos added a Paytm button to win Indian players. Two big changes since then mean that button is not what it used to be.

In 2024 the Reserve Bank of India stopped Paytm Payments Bank from taking new deposits, which ended wallet top ups through it. And in August 2025 India passed a law that bans online real money games and forbids banks and payment systems from processing payments for them.

Below are the casinos that were tagged with Paytm. The rest of the page explains what changed, what it means for players in India and what the realistic picture is today.

Can you use Paytm at online casinos?

For players in India, no longer in a lawful way. India's Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 bans online real money games and prohibits banks and payment systems from facilitating payments for them. Separately, Paytm Payments Bank has not been allowed to accept new wallet deposits since early 2024. Casinos that still show Paytm are offshore sites operating outside Indian law.

From Mobile Top Ups to a Payments Giant

Paytm started out as a way to recharge mobile phones and grew into one of India’s best known payment apps, with a wallet, bill payments, UPI transfers and much more. Its parent company is One97 Communications, which is listed in India.

Offshore casinos chasing Indian players added Paytm to their cashiers because so many people used it every day. For a while, a Paytm deposit felt as normal to an Indian player as a card payment feels in Europe.

The wallet was the key part. Players loaded money into Paytm once and then spent it at shops, on bills and, at many offshore sites, in casino cashiers, without their bank ever seeing where it went. Both of the changes described below hit exactly that habit.

What the RBI Stopped in 2024

At the start of 2024 the Reserve Bank of India acted against Paytm Payments Bank after audits found persistent compliance problems.

No new money in

From the deadline in early 2024, the bank could no longer accept deposits, top ups or credit transactions into customer accounts and wallets. Existing balances could still be spent or withdrawn.

UPI carried on elsewhere

Paytm’s UPI service continued by moving to partner banks, so people could keep paying from their own bank accounts through the app. What ended was the wallet as a place to park money, which had been the feature casinos relied on.

India’s Online Gaming Act, 2025

In August 2025 Parliament passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act. It draws a sharp line between online social games and esports, which it promotes, and online money games, which it bans.

The ban reaches further than the operators themselves. Offering online money games, advertising them and facilitating payments for them are all prohibited, and banks and financial institutions may not process those transactions. The law is written to cover services run from abroad but accessible in India.

That last point matters for anyone thinking about a Paytm button on an offshore casino. The payment rails themselves are now part of the ban.

What It Means in Practice

Here is how the situation looks for someone in India today:

Question Short answer
Can I top up a Paytm wallet to play? No. New wallet deposits through Paytm Payments Bank stopped in 2024.
Can a casino take a UPI payment through Paytm? Payment systems may not process money game transactions under the 2025 Act.
Are offshore casinos covered? Yes, the Act applies to services accessible in India.
What about fantasy and skill games for money? They fall under online money games and are banned too.

This is a summary of how the rules read, not legal advice.

Why Casinos Still Show the Logo

Payment logos on casino sites and review profiles, including older tags on ours, are often years out of date. A Paytm icon in a footer tells you what a casino offered at some point, not what it can lawfully do now.

Some offshore sites route Indian payments through intermediaries or personal accounts to get around the rules. That is exactly the kind of arrangement that leaves players with frozen money and nobody to complain to.

It also means the protection you might expect from a big, familiar brand is gone. The payment may start in the Paytm app, but the money ends up with whoever controls the receiving account, and that is rarely the casino itself.

Red Flags to Walk Away From

If you come across a site still pushing Paytm deposits, these are signs to stop:

  • You are asked to send money to an individual’s UPI ID rather than to a company.
  • The deposit instructions change every time you visit, with new accounts each time.
  • Support pressures you to pay quickly or promises that nothing can go wrong.
  • There is no clear licence number or operator name in the footer.

If You Still Have Money Somewhere

Money that was already in a Paytm wallet before the 2024 changes can still be used or moved out, because the restrictions targeted new deposits.

Money at a casino

A balance sitting at an offshore casino is a harder problem. Contact support in writing, ask for a withdrawal to a bank account in your own name, and keep screenshots of every step. Be realistic, though: these sites are outside Indian law, and there is little leverage if they refuse.

A Note for Players Outside India

Paytm is built around Indian bank accounts and Indian phone numbers, so it has never been much use to players elsewhere. If you live outside India and want a wallet for casino play, look at options licensed in your own region, such as Skrill, Neteller or MiFinity in Europe, and choose a casino that is licensed where you live.

Paytm Casinos FAQ

Can I use Paytm at online casinos?

Not lawfully from India. The 2025 Online Gaming Act bans online money games and payments for them.

What happened to the Paytm wallet?

Since early 2024, Paytm Payments Bank has not been allowed to accept new deposits or top ups. Existing balances can still be used.

Does Paytm UPI still work?

Yes, for normal payments. It moved to partner banks after the 2024 action, but money game payments fall under the 2025 ban.

Does the 2025 law apply to offshore casinos?

Yes. It covers services accessible in India, even if they are run from abroad.

Why do some casinos still show Paytm?

Their listings are out of date, or they use intermediaries to get around the rules, which is risky for players.

Are fantasy sports for money still allowed?

No. Online money games of all kinds, including fantasy and skill games played for money, are banned under the Act.
