Kalshi Taps Genius Sports for League Data and Integrity Checks
Kalshi has signed a partnership with Genius Sports covering official league data, integrity monitoring and marketing support. The deal arrives while the company fights state regulators across the US over what its product actually is. Buying the same infrastructure that licensed sportsbooks have used for years sends a message of its own. It also gives Genius Sports a firm foothold in a sector that keeps pulling in money and attention.
What Kalshi Gets From Genius Sports
The agreement opens up official real-time data from the football rights portfolio. That package includes the English Premier League, Italy’s Serie A, Mexico’s Liga MX, France’s Ligue 1 and Argentina’s Primera División. Five leagues across three continents is a serious opening position for a platform that only recently pushed hard into sports.
Marketing support forms the third pillar of the arrangement. Genius Sports will promote Kalshi through media assets owned by Legend, the digital sports media business it acquired for $1.2 billion in May. That purchase suddenly looks well timed, because prediction market operators need audience reach just as much as they need clean data.
Official Data Turns Into Settlement Infrastructure
Kalshi plans to use the feeds to settle its sports contracts. Grading a market correctly sounds mundane, but it decides who gets paid and who does not. Unofficial or delayed sources create gaps, disputes and slow payouts, and none of that builds trust with traders.
Traditional sportsbooks solved this problem years ago by licensing official league data. Kalshi is now buying from Genius Sports for the same reason bet365 and DraftKings do. Prediction market operators are steadily adopting the commercial tools that the betting industry already treats as standard equipment. The gap between the two categories keeps narrowing on the operational side, even as the legal argument insists they are separate things.
Why Kalshi Wanted the Genius Sports Integrity Network
The second pillar may matter more than the data itself. Kalshi will join an information-sharing network that tracks market behaviour and flags unusual trading activity. The framework also brings restrictions on certain market categories and closer visibility for the leagues involved.
That component lands at a pointed moment. Prediction markets have faced hard questions this year about insider trading and market conduct. Kalshi tightened its own internal rules after that scrutiny, and Genius Sports now puts external eyes on the same activity. Adam Barrick, who leads sports partnerships at Kalshi, called official data and integrity services more important than ever as the ecosystem expands.
Two Rivals, One Supplier
Genius Sports announced a similar arrangement with Polymarket just one day earlier. Within 48 hours, the company had connected itself to both of the largest names in prediction markets. One difference stands out, because the Polymarket agreement includes exclusive streaming rights and Kalshi did not secure the same from Genius Sports.
Sean Conroy, executive vice president of rights and partnerships at Genius Sports, said prediction markets will scale on trusted data and strong integrity work. That is a sales pitch, but it is also a fair description of where the sector is heading. The company has positioned itself as the neutral technology layer beneath competing platforms. That is a comfortable place to sit while regulators decide what happens next.
Investors Like What They See
The market reaction came fast. Genius Sports shares climbed more than 4% in premarket trading and touched $8.60, having closed the previous session at $8.05. The stock opened near $8.40 before easing back toward $8.25 later in the day.
A similar bump followed the Polymarket news earlier in the week, so the pattern is holding. Investors read prediction markets as a growth channel rather than a regulatory liability. Two announcements produced two positive reactions, and one supplier now sits behind both sides of an emerging duopoly.
Where This Leaves Kalshi
Kalshi still faces lawsuits, cease-and-desist orders and criminal complaints across several states. Its core legal defence rests on the argument that federally regulated event contracts are not sports betting. Adopting sportsbook-grade data feeds and integrity monitoring does not weaken that argument in court, but it does change the optics.
The practical read is simpler. Kalshi wants its sports markets to settle cleanly, look credible and survive scrutiny from leagues that have grown wary of unregulated wagering. Genius Sports sells all three in one package. For a platform under this much pressure, that may be the most useful thing money can currently buy.
