Moneta.ru is a Russian e-wallet and payment service run by NCO Moneta, a non-bank credit organisation based in Yoshkar-Ola. It has been operating since 2005 and also powers online payments for merchants under the PayAnyWay name.
Some casinos once listed Moneta.ru for players from Russia and neighbouring countries. Since 2022 the picture has changed a great deal, both because of Russian rules on gambling and because of the payment barriers that now separate Russia from much of the world.
Below are the casinos tagged with Moneta.ru, followed by what the service is, why it rarely works as a casino method today and what to use instead.

Can you use Moneta.ru at online casinos?
Rarely, and usually not in a way we would recommend. Online casinos are not legal in Russia, and since 2022 payments between Russian providers and foreign merchants face heavy restrictions. Moneta.ru remains a domestic e-wallet and merchant payment service, so players outside Russia should use a payment method regulated in their own country.
The operator describes Moneta.ru as three services at once: an e-wallet for individuals, an internet payment provider for merchants and a billing platform. Behind it sits NCO Moneta, which says it was the first company to receive a Central Bank of Russia licence as a payment non-bank credit organisation.
For shoppers the wallet works much like others of its generation. You top it up, pay merchants from the balance and send money to other Moneta.ru users free of charge. Merchants connect through PayAnyWay to take bank cards including the Russian MIR scheme, the Faster Payments System and wallet payments.
Transfers between wallets are instant, and that speed was the main draw when the service appeared in casino cashiers.
Online casinos are not legal in Russia. Sports betting is allowed only through licensed bookmakers, and the authorities block unlicensed gambling sites and work to cut off their payment routes. A Russian payment service that knowingly handled offshore casino deposits would be taking a real risk with its licence.
That alone explains why old Moneta.ru logos on casino sites should be read with suspicion rather than as an invitation.
Visa and Mastercard suspended their Russian operations in March 2022, so Russian issued cards largely stopped working abroad and foreign merchants lost easy access to Russian customers.
Many international businesses, including payment processors and licensed casino operators, now avoid Russian payment flows altogether because of sanctions compliance. Domestic services keep working at home, but the bridge to foreign sites has narrowed sharply.
If a casino invites you to pay through a Russian wallet while holding no licence that covers your country, you have no regulator to turn to if it refuses a withdrawal. Ask yourself who processes the money, under which licence and in which country. A site that cannot answer those questions clearly is not one to trust with a balance.
The same goes for intermediaries offering to move money into a casino on your behalf. Those arrangements are where people lose deposits without any way to get them back.

If you live elsewhere, a Russian wallet is the wrong tool for casino payments.
A card, bank transfer or established e-wallet from your country of residence keeps your payments inside one legal system.
Choose a casino licensed where you live, so complaints and withdrawals are covered by a regulator you can actually reach.
Moneta.ru is a long running and properly licensed part of Russia’s domestic payments scene. As a casino method it belongs to another era. Gambling law at home and payment barriers abroad mean it rarely connects to legitimate operators, and we would not use it for that purpose. Stick to a licensed casino in your own country and a payment method regulated there.
