Säästöpankki is not one bank but a family of local savings banks, and for a lot of Finns outside the big cities it is simply the bank they grew up with. Casinos do not accept it as a wallet. What they accept is a bank payment where Säästöpankki sits in the list of Finnish banks.
That makes it one of the least fussy ways to play from Finland. You log in with the same codes you use for your bills, approve the amount and the balance is there. At the right casino the winnings travel back the same way.
The casinos below take payments from Säästöpankki accounts. Underneath the list you will find how the payment actually works, which provider does the job and what changes when Finland opens its licensed market.

Can you pay at online casinos with Säästöpankki?
Yes. Casinos that serve Finnish players let you pay straight from a Säästöpankki account through bank payment providers such as Trustly, Brite or Zimpler. You pick Säästöpankki from the bank list, log in with your usual banking codes and approve the deposit, which lands instantly. Many of the same casinos pay winnings back to that account.
The Finnish savings bank story goes all the way back to 1822, when the first one opened its doors in Turku. Two centuries and a lot of mergers later, the Savings Banks Group is made up of 14 independent local banks that work under one brand and share a central bank of their own, Säästöpankkien Keskuspankki, which handles payments between them and the outside world.
For you as a player that structure is mostly invisible. Your branch might be in Lappeenranta or in a small town in Ostrobothnia, but online you see one Säästöpankki, one set of banking codes and one app.
What you will not find is a casino product. Säästöpankki does not run a wallet or a card aimed at gambling. When a casino says it accepts Säästöpankki, it means a bank payment provider can take money directly from your account.
The first time takes a couple of minutes, mostly because you are finding your way through an unfamiliar window. After that it is quicker than typing in a card number.
Some sites use that same bank login to create your player account, so there is no registration form at all. The login fills in your name and date of birth for them.
Which company carries your payment is the casino’s choice, not yours. You will almost always meet one of three names.
The veteran of Nordic bank payments. If a casino targets Finland, there is a good chance its bank button is Trustly, and Säästöpankki has been in its list for years.
Brite is the newer Stockholm challenger and has won a lot of casino contracts on speed. Zimpler began as a Swedish mobile payment service and now belongs to TrueLayer. Both let you pay from a Säästöpankki account, and the steps on your side are practically the same.
A deposit is only half of the deal, and it is the easy half. The question that matters is whether the casino can send winnings back through the same provider.
When it can, you rarely need to do anything. Request the withdrawal, pick the bank option and the money goes to the account you deposited from. Casinos with instant payouts can have it there within minutes of approving your request, while those using ordinary transfers usually need a banking day, and longer if you ask late on a Friday.
When it cannot, the casino falls back on a standard bank transfer, which means typing in your IBAN and waiting a little longer. Neither route is a problem, but it is worth knowing which one you are signing up for.
The first withdrawal is often the slowest one regardless. That is the casino checking your documents, not Säästöpankki being slow.
The two names look almost identical, and bank lists at casinos do not always explain the difference.
Oma Säästöpankki is a listed bank of its own and is not part of the Savings Banks Group. Several savings banks, Liedon Säästöpankki among them, left the group over the years and merged into Oma Säästöpankki instead.
In the provider window, choose the bank that actually holds your account. Pick the wrong one and the login simply will not work. You have not done anything harmful, just go back and choose again.
There are three places a limit or a cost can come from, and they are worth keeping apart.
| Where it comes from | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Säästöpankki | No separate charge for paying through these providers. Your daily online payment limit, set in the app, still applies. |
| The payment provider | Paid by the casino, not by you. |
| The casino | A minimum deposit, most often around EUR 10, and a maximum that varies from site to site. |
If a bigger deposit is declined straight away, check that online payment limit first. It is the most common reason, and you can change it yourself in the app.
Right now, every casino in the list above holds a licence from another country. Finland has let Veikkaus hold the gambling monopoly for a long time, so Finnish players have been playing at foreign sites without the protection of Finnish law.
That ends in 2027. Finland accepted the first applications for commercial gambling licences in March 2026, and from 1 July 2027 licensed operators may offer online casino games and betting to Finns. Players at those sites will have to set deposit limits, and one self exclusion register will cover all of them.
Bank payments will stay at the heart of it. A login with your own banking codes proves who you are, which is exactly what a licensed market asks for.
Missing banks are rare, but it happens, especially at casinos whose provider only covers the largest Finnish banks. You still have options:
Finns with more than one bank can of course pay from the other account instead. Nordea, OP, S-Pankki, Aktia and POP Pankki appear in the same provider lists.
Yes, through bank payment providers such as Trustly, Brite and Zimpler at casinos that serve Finnish players.
Usually yes. Casinos that pay out through the same provider send the money back to the account you deposited from.
No. The bank does not add a fee for these payments, and casinos rarely do either.
No. Oma Säästöpankki is a separate bank outside the Savings Banks Group. Choose the one that holds your account.
Most often the amount is above the online payment limit set in your banking app. Raise the limit or deposit less.
Licensed operators can start offering online casino games to Finnish players on 1 July 2027.
