Entropay casinos header: frosted blank card dissolving into particles next to a stack of coins

Entropay Casinos

Entropay was a virtual prepaid Visa card that casino players used for years. You loaded it from your bank card, got a separate card number for online payments and kept your main card away from gambling sites.

It no longer exists in that form. Entropay began cancelling cards in late 2018, first outside the EEA and in Norway, and the virtual card service wound down after that.

Below are the casinos that were tagged with Entropay, followed by how it worked, what happened to it and which payment methods do the same job today.

Can you still use Entropay at online casinos?

No. Entropay was a virtual prepaid Visa card that casinos accepted like any Visa card, but it started cancelling cards from November 2018, beginning with users outside the EEA and in Norway, and the service was wound down afterwards. Casinos that still list Entropay are showing an outdated logo. Prepaid vouchers, e-wallets and debit cards are the usual replacements.

A Virtual Card for Online Payments

The idea behind Entropay was neat. You signed up, topped up a balance from your debit or credit card, and received a virtual Visa card number you could use anywhere Visa was accepted online. To a casino, it looked exactly like a normal card payment.

It also suited players whose banks blocked gambling transactions or charged heavily for them. Because the card was issued separately, the payment looked like an ordinary prepaid card purchase rather than a direct charge on the main card, at least on the casino side.

For players, the appeal was control. Only what you loaded could be spent, and your main bank card never touched a gambling site. That made it popular with people who wanted a clear wall between everyday money and casino money.

Why It Caught On With Casino Players

It worked where Visa worked

Because it ran on Visa, casinos did not need a special integration. If they took Visa, they took Entropay, which meant a huge number of sites.

It kept spending in a box

A prepaid balance is a natural limit. When it ran out, the session ended, unless you deliberately loaded more.

How Entropay Wound Down

In 2018 Entropay told users outside the European Economic Area and in Norway that their cards would be cancelled, citing new restrictions on card issuers. Top ups for those users were stopped in August 2018, and the cards were cancelled from 1 November 2018. Remaining card balances were moved into the Entropay wallet, which could still be withdrawn to a bank account.

Users elsewhere reported similar notices a few months later, with cards being deleted and balances moved to the wallet. The virtual card that casino players knew is gone, and there is no way to open a new one.

Why You Still See the Logo

  • Casino footers and payment pages are rarely cleaned up when a provider disappears.
  • Review sites, ours included, carried Entropay tags from the years when it was common.
  • Some affiliate templates still copy old payment icon sets without checking them.

Treat an Entropay logo as history, not as a working option. If a casino insists it still accepts Entropay, ask support exactly how, and expect them to point you to a different method.

Money Left on an Old Account

When the cards were cancelled, balances were moved to the Entropay wallet rather than lost, and the notices said wallet withdrawals to a bank account or card would remain possible. If you think you still have money there, look for the closure emails from the time and contact the provider through official channels only.

Be wary of anyone who contacts you offering to recover an old Entropay balance for a fee. Recovery scams target exactly this kind of closed service.

What Does the Same Job Now

Depending on what you liked about Entropay, there are several modern equivalents.

If you want a prepaid limit

Vouchers such as Paysafecard, Neosurf or Flexepin let you pay with a fixed amount bought in advance, though most cannot be used for withdrawals.

If you want to keep your card private

E-wallets such as Skrill, Neteller and MiFinity sit between your bank and the casino and can pay out as well.

Old and New Side by Side

Method Status Withdrawals
Entropay virtual card Closed Not applicable
Prepaid vouchers Widely available Usually not
E-wallets Widely available Yes, at most casinos
Debit cards Widely available Often, sometimes slower

The Bottom Line

Entropay was a smart solution for its time, and the reasons people used it still make sense: keep gambling money separate, cap what you can spend and protect your main card. You just need a different tool to do it now. Pick the replacement that matches the habit you want to keep, and choose a casino that is licensed for players in your country.

If budgeting was the main reason you used Entropay, also look at the deposit limits licensed casinos must offer. Setting a weekly or monthly cap in your account gives you the same kind of hard stop, without needing a separate card at all.
