Swish is how Sweden pays. Launched in 2012 by the country’s big banks, it moves money between bank accounts in seconds using nothing more than a phone number, and the large majority of Swedes have it on their phones.
That makes it a natural fit for casinos licensed in Sweden. You confirm a deposit with Mobile BankID, the money leaves your bank account instantly, and many sites can send winnings back the same way.
Below are the casinos tagged with Swish, followed by how a deposit works, what happens when you withdraw and the Swedish rules that decide where you can use it.

Can you use Swish at online casinos?
Yes, at casinos licensed by Spelinspektionen that offer it. You enter your phone number or open the Swish app, approve the payment with Mobile BankID and the deposit arrives immediately. Swish requires a Swedish bank account and personal identity number, so it is only for players in Sweden.
Swish appeared in 2012 as a joint project of the major Swedish banks, with Bankgirot running the real time clearing underneath. The service is owned by Getswish AB and backed by banks including Danske Bank, Handelsbanken, Länsförsäkringar, Nordea, SEB and Swedbank.
It caught on faster than anyone expected. A Riksbank memo puts its reach at around 83 percent of the population, and splitting a dinner bill or paying a flea market seller with Swish is now so ordinary that cash feels odd by comparison.
Swish has a separate payout service that businesses can use to send money to a customer’s account by phone number, and several Swedish licensed casinos use it for withdrawals. Where they do, winnings can land within minutes of the casino approving them.
Not every site that takes Swish deposits can pay out with it, though. Some route withdrawals through a bank transfer or an instant banking provider instead, and you will see that on the withdrawal page.
Either way, the money goes to an account in your own name. Swedish casinos already know who you are from BankID, which is one reason payouts here tend to be faster than at many foreign sites.
| Method | How you confirm | Payouts |
|---|---|---|
| Swish | Swish app and Mobile BankID | At many licensed sites |
| Trustly | Bank login with BankID | Yes, usually fast |
| Brite or Zimpler | Bank login with BankID | At sites that support it |
| Debit card | Card details and 3D Secure | Often slower |
Since 1 January 2019, only companies with a Swedish licence may offer online gambling to people in Sweden. Spelinspektionen keeps the list of licence holders and acts against companies that target Swedes without one.
The original payment blocking rules targeted cards, but cards now make up a tiny share of gambling deposits. In a 2024 parliamentary question, a member pointed out that Swedes mainly use Swish and open banking instead, and the government said further measures might be needed. Expect payment rules to keep tightening around unlicensed sites.
Swish needs a Swedish bank account and a Swedish personal identity number, so it does not travel. It is also not part of the European alliance linking wallets like Bizum, Vipps MobilePay and MB Way, according to the Riksbank. If you see Swish offered by a casino without a Swedish licence, be wary: you would be giving up the protections, such as Spelpaus and deposit limits, that come with the Swedish system.
Swish is so quick that a deposit can feel like nothing at all.
Licensed Swedish sites must ask you to set deposit limits. Pick numbers you are comfortable with before your first payment.
If you need a break, Spelpaus.se lets you exclude yourself from every licensed operator at once.
For most Swedish players it is hard to beat. You already have the app, deposits are instant and confirmed with the same BankID you use for everything else, and payouts can be just as quick at sites that support them. Use it at a casino with a Swedish licence, check the withdrawal options before you start and set your limits on day one.
