Thai has around 70 million speakers, and almost every one of them lives in a country where online casinos are flatly illegal. Thailand’s Gambling Act dates from 1935, no online casino has ever been licensed there, and a Malta or Curaçao seal on an offshore site changes nothing for a player in Bangkok.
So let us be blunt. If you live in Thailand, do not play at online casinos, and do not expect this page to show you a way around the ban. It is written for the Thai speakers in London, Stockholm, Copenhagen or Berlin, where licensed sites are legal and a local regulator sets the rules.
Below sits every open casino in our database that offers Thai, and the list is identical wherever you load it from. Being listed guarantees nothing about whether a casino may accept you, so look up which countries it turns away and what the licensing rules in your own country say before registering.

Not from Thailand. The Gambling Act B.E. 2478 (1935) bans gambling outside a few state approved forms such as the Government Lottery, no online casino holds a Thai licence, and a foreign licence does not protect the player. Thai speakers living in licensed markets such as Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark or Germany can play legally, but only at sites licensed in the country where they live.

Most languages in a casino lobby earn their place because a legal market stands behind them. Ethnologue puts it at roughly 71 million speakers, about 27 million of them native, and the overwhelming majority live in Thailand, where it is the sole official language.
Outside the country the numbers shrink fast. The US Census Bureau counted about 340,000 Thai Americans in 2023, Australia and Germany each have communities of around 115,000, and Britain, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and Denmark follow with tens of thousands or fewer.
Only a small handful of open casinos in our database run in Thai, well under twenty, so before you trust the translation, ask who it was really made for.
Thailand has no online gambling law of its own. The Gambling Act B.E. 2478 bans gambling in general and lists narrow exceptions, online casino play is illegal under it, and cases are also brought under the Computer Crime Act. Thai press reports citing local lawyers put the exposure at fines and up to five years in prison, plus deportation and a blacklist for foreigners.
The Government Lottery Office draws on the 1st and 16th of every month, and horse race betting is allowed only at approved venues, chiefly the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. No foreign licence, from Malta, Curaçao or the Philippines, adds an online casino to it.
In early 2025 the government put a draft amendment out for public comment. It defined online gambling, opened the door to authorised operators and set one to three years in prison for joining unauthorised online games. It has not been passed, but it shows where the state is heading.
The cabinet approved an Entertainment Complex Bill on 13 January 2025, and a revised March draft would have charged Thai citizens a THB 5,000 entry fee (about EUR 133) and required THB 50 million (about EUR 1.3 million) in bank deposits.
It never reached a vote. After protests outside parliament in April the first reading was postponed, and on 9 July 2025 the House approved the bill’s withdrawal amid the crisis over the leaked phone call with Cambodia’s Hun Sen. A Senate committee rejected it in September and recommended a referendum first, and parliament was dissolved in December.
The coalition formed after the 2026 election revived the plan in principle in May, but by August no new draft had been tabled. Either way, the bill only ever covered physical resorts. Online casinos would stay illegal for people in Thailand even if it passed.
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society had 883,012 URLs blocked between October 2025 and July 2026, over 600,000 of them tied to illegal gambling, through court orders under the Computer Crime Act. Offshore operators keep translating into Thai because the demand sits inside the country, and the cashier gives it away.
Treat any of these as a red flag. An operator comfortable breaking Thai law rarely treats your withdrawal with more care.
Outside Thailand, the country you live in decides what is legal, not your passport or the language you read. The five largest Thai communities sit under very different rulebooks.
| Country | Thai community, roughly | Online casinos for residents |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 340,000 | Legal in seven states only, each with its own licence |
| Australia | 115,000 | Offers to Australians banned under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 |
| Germany | 115,000 | Slots and poker licensed by the GGL |
| United Kingdom | 55,000 | Licensed by the Gambling Commission |
| Sweden | 46,000 born in Thailand | Licensed by Spelinspektionen since 2019 |
The figures measure different things, birthplace in Sweden and ancestry or migration background elsewhere, so treat them as orders of size. A Thai Australian has no legal online casino at all, while a Thai speaker in Gothenburg has a full licensed market.
Thai speakers in Europe have it easiest, provided the local licence comes first and the Thai translation a distant second. In Great Britain only Gambling Commission licensees may take you, all of them sit in GamStop, and credit card gambling has been banned since 14 April 2020. Our page on casinos with a UK licence shows how to check a site.
Scandinavia ties your account to national ID. Swedish licensed casinos answer to Spelinspektionen and share the Spelpaus register, while Danish ones sit under Spillemyndigheden with MitID at sign-up and ROFUS for self exclusion. Our Swedish language guide and Danish language guide go deeper.
Few licensed sites in these countries bother with Thai. If yours does, enjoy it. If not, a licensed site in English or Swedish beats a Thai one with no licence where you live.
Thai is hard to fake, and two details expose a cheap job fast.
Written Thai leaves no spaces between words, and vowels sit above, below or beside the consonant, with tone marks riding on top. Done properly, lines break in sensible places and every mark stays on its letter. Done carelessly, words split mid line, marks hover over empty circles, or characters turn into blank boxes because the font lacks Thai glyphs. Check the bonus terms first, since they are the longest block of text.
Thailand counts years in the Buddhist Era, 543 years ahead of the Western calendar, so 2026 is 2569. Native writers may date a promotion that way, machine translation keeps the Western year, and terms mixing both turn expiry dates into guesswork. Ask support in writing which one applies.
A native chat agent ends sentences with the polite particle khrap or kha, depending on gender. Ask too what hours the Thai agents work. If it is a slice of the Bangkok day, the rest of the time you are writing in English.
If you live in Thailand, the answer is short. Do not play at online casinos. None of them is legal for you, whatever licence it displays, and the state is blocking sites and prosecuting at a pace that makes it a real risk.
Living abroad, the first question is what your own country allows. If it runs a licensed market, stick to sites carrying that local licence and count Thai in the lobby as a bonus, not a reason to sign up. A casino pairing Thai with baht balances and PromptPay is telling you exactly who it was built for, and it is not you.
No. The Gambling Act B.E. 2478 of 1935 bans gambling apart from a few state approved forms, and no online casino has ever been licensed in Thailand. An offshore licence from Malta, Curaçao or the Philippines does not change the position of a player there, and prosecutions are also brought under the Computer Crime Act.
No. The cabinet approved an Entertainment Complex Bill in January 2025, but the House approved its withdrawal on 9 July 2025 and a Senate committee rejected it that September. The new coalition revived the idea in May 2026 without tabling a fresh draft by August, and the bill only ever covered land based resorts, never online play.
Very little. The Government Lottery Office runs draws on the 1st and 16th of each month, and horse race betting is allowed at approved venues such as the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. A short list of other licensed activities exists under the 1935 Act, but online casinos are not among them.
Yes, at casinos licensed in the country where they live. In Sweden that means a Spelinspektionen licence, in Great Britain one from the Gambling Commission. Few licensed sites offer Thai, so English or the local language is often the practical choice, and a Thai version without a local licence is not a safe substitute.
Because they are aimed at players inside Thailand, where online casinos are illegal. PromptPay links bank accounts to a Thai mobile number or citizen ID, so it only works for people banking in Thailand. For a Thai speaker abroad, a site built around PromptPay and baht balances is a warning sign, not a convenience.
Thailand counts years in the Buddhist Era, which runs 543 years ahead of the Western calendar, so 2026 is 2569. Thai pages written by native speakers sometimes use it for promotion and expiry dates. If a bonus page mixes both calendars, ask support in writing which date applies before you accept the offer.
Plenty of Thai speakers abroad also read English, Swedish or German, so every other language guide we have sits right here.
