The name is a nod to American diners. In a 2021 interview, creative lead Matt Carvajal said the name and logo were inspired by American burger joints, a choice he called iconic to the American industry. Gameburger launched in August 2019 as the newest member of Microgaming’s network of independent studios. The launch announcement gave its mission as recreating the feel of a land based casino, for markets outside the US. The studio’s creative lead talked about simple mechanics in 2021, and several of these games top out well below the five figure multipliers other studios advertise. The game that won the studio its biggest prize stars a leprechaun with a fishing rod. Fishin’ Pots of Gold came out in January 2022, and in February 2023 it was named Game of the Year in the games studio category at the International Gaming Awards in London, beating Games Global’s other entries.
Its trick is the switch from a 5×3 base game on 10 lines to a 5×5 bonus round on 20 lines, with cash values and a collector feature. The series’ leprechaun, Lucky Lad Flynn, went underground in November 2023 in Mining Pots of Gold, a high volatility 20 line slot where up to 20 cash multiplier prizes can be applied at random, worth 1,000x if you collect them all.

Gameburger started out as an independent studio in Microgaming’s network.
