Edict casinos carry classic German hall slots online: Double Triple Chance, Blazing Star, Magic Mirror and the rest of the Merkur catalogue. edict itself is the Hamburg company that has brought those games to online casinos for the Merkur Group since 2014.
Below the list we explain who edict is, how it is licensed, what the Merkur style of slot is like and what to check before you deposit.

edict egaming GmbH is a Hamburg company, founded in 1998 and part of the Gauselmann Group, now Merkur Group, since 2008. It supplies Merkur slots such as Double Triple Chance, Blazing Star and Magic Mirror to online casinos, holds B2B licences including UK and Malta ones, and since 2021 has also aggregated games from other studios.
Here is the thing most players never find out: when a lobby says edict, the slot you open is almost always a Merkur game. edict egaming GmbH is a Hamburg company, founded in 1998, that joined the Gauselmann Group in 2008, and trade press has described it as the exclusive worldwide supplier of Merkur slots for online play. Gauselmann is the German family business behind the Merkur arcades, and it renamed itself the Merkur Group at the start of 2024.
So edict is less a design studio than the online arm of a land based slot maker. edict licenses the Merkur games market by market and delivers them to online casinos through its own technology. When it celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023, it described itself as a casino solutions developer and one of the leading aggregators in the industry.
That second word, aggregator, matters too. Since 2021 edict has also carried games from other studios, and when Apparat Gaming joined in April 2024 its 30 or so slots were added to an edict line up of more than 200 titles.

edict was online years before the first Merkur slot was. These dates come from edict’s own site and the trade press:
| Year | What happened |
|---|---|
| 1998 | edict is founded in Hamburg |
| 2002 | Builds and runs online casino systems for the land based casinos in Wiesbaden and Hamburg |
| 2008 | The Gauselmann Group buys the company |
| 2014 | Shows the first Merkur online slots in HTML5 at a Berlin trade fair and launches Game Bridge, its way of plugging them into existing casinos |
| 2015 | Goes mobile first and gets a UK Gambling Commission software licence |
| 2021 | Launches its aggregator solution for other studios’ games |
| 2022 | Is granted a further licence by the Malta Gaming Authority |
| 2024 | The parent becomes the Merkur Group, and Ontario’s AGCO approves edict and Edict Malta to supply Merkur slots |
One early claim stands out: the 2023 anniversary release says edict was the first licensed provider worldwide to stream roulette from a land based casino online. We have not seen that confirmed anywhere else.
If you have stood in front of a Merkur machine in a German arcade, the online versions will feel like home. SlotCatalog lists 174 games under edict, and the core of the catalogue is classic hall style: few lines, simple symbols and a gamble option after the win.
This 3×3 fruit slot from 2015 has five lines, a bonus wheel and two gamble features, a card gamble and a ladder gamble in the style of German hall machines. SlotCatalog gives it a 95.65% RTP and medium volatility.

Another five line game, on 5×3 reels this time, with fruit symbols and a starry sky theme. SlotCatalog lists 96.31% as its RTP, medium to high volatility and a top win of 5,000x the stake.
The older shelf leans on themes: Fire of Egypt on a 4×3 grid with 25 lines, Gold of Persia with free spins that carry a multiplier, and Magic Mirror, a fairy tale slot on 10 lines with free games. Merkur’s 221B Baker Street, a Sherlock Holmes slot, was among the ten games in edict’s 2014 deal with EveryMatrix.
edict says its group holds five B2B licences, and the paper trail is easy to follow. The UK Gambling Commission register lists edict eGaming GmbH under account 39835, with a remote gambling software licence active since May 2015 and a remote casino game host licence since November 2017. Its sister company Edict Malta Ltd has a UK account of its own and has held an MGA licence for several years, and a 2022 release also named the Isle of Man and Kahnawake regulators.

Greece and Ontario complete the picture. edict’s site links to an entry in the Greek gaming commission’s register, and in July 2024 the AGCO cleared both companies to supply Merkur slots in Ontario. Both edict companies also hold ISO/IEC 27001 certificates for information security.
None of that makes a casino safe by itself. A supplier licence covers edict, not the casino, which needs its own licence where you live. In Germany, for example, the group applied separately and was authorised in 2022 to run its own online slots under the Merkur Spiel brand.
Merkur slots come from the land based world, and two habits came along with them.
The first is the gamble option. After a win you can risk it on a card gamble or a ladder, and several of the games on this page offer it. The second is the RTP range: SlotCatalog flags several edict games, Magic Mirror, Blazing Star and Gold of Persia among them, as available in more than one payout setting. A few habits help:
If you like this hall style, our page on Novomatic casinos covers the other big name from German and Austrian arcades.

The list at the top of this page shows the open edict casinos in our database, with closed and blacklisted casinos left out. Some lobbies may file the same games under Merkur rather than edict, so search by title if a favourite seems to be missing.
Licence first. Make sure the casino holds a licence for the country you live in. If online casino play is not legal there, do not play.
Then the cashier. Read the withdrawal limits, processing times and when identity checks happen, before you deposit rather than after a win.
Then the game rules. Check which RTP version the casino runs, and whether Merkur slots count in full towards bonus wagering. Some casinos restrict gamble features during bonus play, so read the terms. Our reviews of edict casinos cover each of those points, and the game provider directory lists every other studio we track.
Not quite. edict egaming GmbH is a separate company inside the Merkur Group, and it supplies the Merkur slots to online casinos. The edict games you see in a lobby are mostly Merkur titles.
The Gauselmann Group bought edict in 2008. The group renamed itself the Merkur Group in January 2024, so edict is now part of the Merkur Group.
Yes. The UK Gambling Commission lists edict eGaming GmbH under account 39835, and the group also names Malta, Isle of Man, Kahnawake and Greek licences plus an Ontario approval from 2024. Edict casinos still need their own licence where you live.
Double Triple Chance, Blazing Star, Magic Mirror, Gold of Persia and Fire of Egypt are among the titles SlotCatalog lists under edict, all from the Merkur catalogue.
SlotCatalog lists figures between about 95.5% and 96.3% for the games on this page, but several titles come in more than one setting. The info screen at edict casinos shows the version in use.
Many Merkur slots offer a card or ladder gamble after a win. It is optional, so set your own rule before you play, and note that some casinos disable it or exclude it from bonus play.
edict is one route to German hall classics, and the index below shows every other studio we follow with its number of open casinos.
