What is STHLM Gaming known for?

STHLM Gaming is a Stockholm slot studio founded in 2016 by Jonas Byström and André Nylander. It is known for simple, clean video slots such as Stacks of Riches, Boost It, Perfect Catch and Icarus Wilds, distributed through Relax Gaming's Silver Bullet programme. Spiffbet bought the studio in 2019, and Million Games has owned it since 2023.

STHLM Is Short for Stockholm

The name gives the game away. STHLM is the everyday Swedish shorthand for Stockholm, and that is where Jonas Byström and André Nylander founded the studio in 2016. The first slot followed in 2017, and by mid 2019 the portfolio had grown to six games, according to reports on the takeover that year.

Byström, the CEO, described the goal in 2018 as engaging games with clean presentation and intuitive gameplay, and the specs back him up. These are mostly 5×3 slots with one or two ideas each, not feature monsters with five bonus modes. Tom Galanis of the affiliate service First Look Games, which added the studio to its roster, put it as simple games that still pack a punch. If you like a slot you can understand in one spin, that is a compliment.

Three Owners in Seven Years: The STHLM Gaming Timeline

Few small studios change hands this often. This is the chain as far as the public record goes:

  1. 2016: founded in Stockholm by Byström and Nylander.
  2. October 2018: the first games go live on Relax Gaming’s Silver Bullet programme.
  3. July 2019: the First North listed operator Spiffbet buys all shares in STHLM Gaming Sweden AB, paying in new shares in three stages, with both founders staying on.
  4. June 2021: Spiffbet puts its in-house game development under a new brand, Rhino Gaming.
  5. August 2023: Million Games buys STHLM Gaming Sweden AB together with the Rhino Gaming portfolio, as Spiffbet leaves game development to focus on its casinos.

Spiffbet’s CEO said the purchase had paid off, but that the company lacked the resources to develop games next to its casino business. Million Games, run by founder Thomas Nimstad, received a Swedish licence from Spelinspektionen in November 2025.

Silver Bullet: How the Games Reached STHLM Gaming Casinos

STHLM never built a casino platform of its own. In October 2018 Relax Gaming added the studio to Silver Bullet, its programme for partner studios, starting with Van Gogh, Stacks of Riches and Boost It. Relax’s product chief Simon Hammon said STHLM matched Relax’s own ambitions.

Stacks of Riches, the 2017 fruit slot on 5×3 reels with 10 paylines.
Boost It slot by STHLM Gaming, jewel symbols with a Booster Reel
Boost It, a 2018 slot with 243 ways and a Booster Reel that adds wilds and multipliers.

A 2019 report on the Spiffbet deal described two routes: direct sales to one European operator and indirect sales through a network, mainly in Europe, with distribution set to continue through the same channels after the takeover. In practice that makes Relax the main road into STHLM Gaming casinos, so if a casino runs the Relax catalogue, it is worth looking for these titles. Our Relax Gaming casinos page lists those casinos.

Six STHLM Slots, 2017 to 2020

SlotCatalog now files these games under Million Games, the current owner. Here is what it lists for six of them:

Slot Released Layout RTP
Stacks of Riches October 2017 5×3, 10 lines 95.91%
Boost It February 2018 5×3, 243 ways 97%
Perfect Catch March 2019 5×3, 20 lines 96.32%
The Golden Chase June 2019 5×3, 243 to 1,024 ways 96.27%
Ricky Riches December 2019 5×3, 243 ways 96%
Icarus Wilds March 2020 5×3, 243 ways 96.54%

Boost It has the highest RTP of the set and a Booster Reel that can add random wilds, wild reels and multipliers. Icarus Wilds has the tallest ceiling: SlotCatalog puts its top win at 16,864x, and in free spins the grid grows to 5×4 with 1,024 ways.

Frogs, Gems and Clovers: Three STHLM Gaming Slots From 2019

If the fruit games feel too plain, these three 2019 releases are the ones to look for at STHLM Gaming casinos.

The Golden Chase slot, gemstones on white silk with up to 1,024 ways
The Golden Chase, a 2019 gemstone slot whose respins grow the ways from 243 to 1,024.

Perfect Catch

A pond of frogs and fish on 20 lines, with random wilds, multipliers and free spins. SlotCatalog lists a top win of 2,787x.

The Golden Chase

Gemstones on white silk. It starts on 243 ways, and respins push the count up step by step, through 324, 432, 576 and 768, to 1,024. SlotCatalog calls it a fairly volatile game, with a top win of 6,699x.

Ricky Riches

A retro lucky clover slot from December, with a pick bonus, stacked symbols, multipliers and free spins. SlotCatalog lists medium to high volatility and a top win of 4,800x.

STHLM Gaming Casinos After the Million Games Deal

The list at the top of this page shows the open STHLM Gaming casinos in our database, with closed and blacklisted sites left out. A small back catalogue like this rarely decides where you play, so let the casino earn your deposit first.

Its licence has to cover the country you live in, and if online casinos are not legal there, do not play. The Swedish licence Million Games holds covers its supply of games in Sweden, and it does not make any casino safe. Then read our review for withdrawal limits, processing times and when identity checks happen.

Last, the game details. Open the info screen to see which RTP the casino runs, and if you take a bonus at one of the STHLM Gaming casinos, check whether older slots from smaller studios count in full towards the wagering. For other studios, our game provider directory lists everything we cover.

STHLM Gaming FAQ

Who owns STHLM Gaming today?

Million Games, a Swedish studio led by its founder and CEO Thomas Nimstad. It bought all shares in STHLM Gaming Sweden AB from Spiffbet in August 2023, together with the Rhino Gaming portfolio.

Is STHLM Gaming still releasing games?

The newest STHLM title we could confirm is Icarus Wilds from March 2020. Million Games keeps releasing games, such as the crash game Chicken X, but under its own name. The older slots are still listed, so STHLM Gaming casinos can carry them.

Where is STHLM Gaming based?

Stockholm, Sweden. That is also where the name comes from: STHLM is the common Swedish shorthand for the city.

How do STHLM Gaming games reach casinos?

Mainly through Relax Gaming, which added the studio to its Silver Bullet programme in October 2018. A 2019 report said the studio also sold directly to one European operator.

Which STHLM Gaming slot has the highest RTP?

Of the six we checked, Boost It has the highest figure on SlotCatalog at 97%. Check the info screen at STHLM Gaming casinos, because the version on offer can differ.

Are STHLM Gaming casinos safe?

That depends on the casino, not the studio. Start with the list at the top of this page, which only shows open casinos, then pick one licensed where you live with clear withdrawal terms.
